If you’ve got an old Raspberry Pi or a Pi 3 Model B with a Bluetooth module, you can turn it into an infrared blaster.
The idea is that you can use the module’s IR sensor to trigger a flash when you plug in your Raspberry Pis to the power supply.
This gives you an infrared beacon that can be sent to your smartphone.
The infrared signal then hits your device, and you can watch a countdown display on your phone.
The best part is that the IR blaster can be set up to work with any Raspberry Pi model, which makes it ideal for people who want to use an infrared camera in a Raspberry Pi without having to go and buy a separate infrared module.
We’ll talk more about how to set it up later, but for now you can try it out by connecting a Raspberry PI to your computer via USB and then using an infrared module to trigger the flash.
